Open Letter

Dear Kitty:

You know how you run in and annoy me as soon as my alarm goes off? I find it slightly endearing that you don't have a snooze button. Here's the problem: you're starting much earlier than alarm time. Sometimes it's still dark out. Not cool, kitty, not cool. Just stop it. You can bug me whenever the alarm goes off. And hey, if the alarm doesn't go off, just leave me alone.

And yet again my hubs is out at sea, and I'm home alone. I'm lucky - he only takes a few fishing trips a year, so while I miss him lots while he's gone, it's not something that's a constant. This time he's made more trips in a row than I'm used to, but at least he comes home for a few days between. 

What do I do while he's gone? I'll tell you. I live like a 15 year old whose parents have gone on vacation. Minus the house full of drunken teenagers, of course. Instead, I cease to do all laundry, I stop doing dishes, and I live on a steady diet of chicken fingers, french fries, and nachos. Sometimes pizza. Last week I ran out of tortilla chips and still wanted nachos, so I made them with french fries. AMAZING. I wish I had taken a picture. 

Instead, here is a picture of Fiona not wanting her Dad to leave. I wanted him to stay him too. 

This is me jumping into the world of Blogging. So, since my life is about to be plastered for posterity on the internet, here are a few things about me: I like nachos and buying shoes, but not super expensive shoes. I really enjoy finding a good bargain, and I think gift cards are the best gift ever. I like cooking really good food, but usually I'm so hungry when I start that I only want to make something that takes roughly the same amount of time as a grilled cheese sandwich.

I have a husband I love very much, and together we have two dogs (Bandit and Brooklyn) and a cat (Fiona). And a beta fish (oscar) and two other fish (Grace and Harriett). I'm all for having more pets, he thinks we have too many. For whatever reason we both take a lot of pictures of them when they're sleeping.

We live in a lovely house on an island in Maine, and I can't wait to share our adventures in making our lives amazingly fabulous, one step at a time.
